Virtual After-School Clubs

After-school/extracurricular activities are among the best sources of socialization for youth, joining kids with similar interests in a structured, social environment. With virtual school and restrictions around in-person socialization, one of the many consequences of COVID-19 has been social isolation.

With socialization being particularly critical to development, we're doing everything we can to make sure these needs aren't going unmet. Therefore, CAAP is bringing after-school clubs to your home!

Program Details:

  • We are offering a variety of extracurricular clubs, which are selected based on shared interests/hobbies of participating kids

  • The clubs are for kids who:

    • are experiencing a void in socialization due to COVID-19

    • have had difficulty maintaining social connections during this time

    • do not have social connections outside of school

    • have social anxiety with unfamiliar peers and/or in groups

    • would benefit from additional social structure

  • Clubs are led by Dr. Avny, who structures the activities, facilitates social interaction, and encourages group work and collaboration

  • Two age groups: 10-13 and 14-17

  • Clubs will run for 45 minutes, once a week, for six weeks (schedules are coordinated with participants of the same club)

  • Clubs begin on a rolling basis once a designated interest area is filled

  • Kids are matched with similar-age, similar-interest peers, and can enroll in multiple clubs as long as there is demand for each

  • Each club has up to six kids

  • Cost: $350 for one six-week club

Sample clubs: Photography, Arts/Crafts, Board/Card Games, Video Games, Cooking, Sports Trivia

Interested families will be provided a list of potential clubs and matched accordingly
